New for 2026!

...A chance to visit the Communication Control Room of the second largest Fire & Rescue Service in England.  West Midlands Fire Service has 38 fire stations; employs around 1,900 staff of whom 1,350 are wholetime firefighters.  It is ranked as the third fastest in the UK with an average response time of 7 minutes 19 seconds – and respond to around 25,000 incidents every year.

As well as West Midlands Fire Service, the Fire Control centre also manages incidents in neighbouring Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service – adding a further 9,000 incidents per year across 33 fire stations staffed with a mix of wholetime and on-call firefighters.

What Can I Expect To See?

The officer in charge of Fire Control will guide the group around the control room and demonstrate the tools used to manage resources across the West Midlands and Staffordshire.

Visitors will also be offered a tour of the Command Training Facility, located in the same building. The team will provide an overview of the facility and share insights into how officers are trained and assessed.

When Will the Control Room Tours Take Place?

Tuesday 24th March

We will run two visits on the afternoon of Tuesday 24th March – with a mini-bus taking those who have signed up from the Coventry Building Society Arena into Birmingham, a journey of around 45 minutes.

The mini-bus will leave at 12 noon and then 2pm sharp from Coventry.  Numbers are strictly limited on each visit to a maximum of nine visitors.

Places are available on a strictly first come, first served basis.
