Mark (Ted) O'Brien has more than 35 years' worth of experience in the Fire Sector. Joining Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service as a firefighter in 1987, Ted developed his firefighting skills and knowledge at some of the busiest Fire Stations in Europe, based in the outer suburbs of Manchester, UK. Ted completed a 30-year professional firefighting career in 2017 and upon leaving service was a member of the Leadership Team as an operational Area Manager, and held the functional responsibility of Head of Operational Training, Operational Policy & Procedure and was responsible for 9 full-time operational Fire Stations. Ted ​then spent 5 years (2017 - 2022) as a Director at The Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh, in the UK, responsible for the college curriculum and product development. During this period Ted procured FLAIM Trainer and Extinguisher into the college, the first FLAIM kit in the UK and became a brand ambassador for FLAIM. Ted's drive and passion is based upon finding or developing continuous improvement in firefighter and emergency responder safety.
