Clinical Lead for Stroke Video Triage
,
East of England Ambulance Service
I am the Clinical Lead for Stroke Video Triage for the East of England Ambulance Service. I have worked clinically for EEAST for 10 years, working in more recent years as a Paramedic on the Mobile Stroke Unit - the only of it's kind in the UK, with capability to CT scan and deliver thrombolysis at the emergency site as well as a host of other assessment and treatment options normally only available in hospital. As the Clinical Lead for Stroke Video Triage a key element of my role is concerned with identifying barriers linking pre-hospital clinicians and their patients to in-hospital specialists teams for remote assessment, one such barrier being connectivity. In the East of England, around 5000 patients have now benefited from Stroke Video Triage, which is proven to expedite imaging and reperfusion times for stroke patients and improve the accurate triage of patients with neurological symptoms to the correct treatment destination first time.
