Welsh FRS prepares for ESN transition

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is rolling-out Capita control room technology in preparation for its eventual move to the Emergency Services Network.

According to Capita, its DS3000 software solution will enable the service to maintain Airwave connectivity during the ongoing transition to broadband. It also provides “single touchscreen control capability,” unifying both telephone and radio comms.

Speaking of the technology, North Wales assistant chief fire officer, Richard Fairhead, said: “We are going through an important transition for our control room operations that will help improve services and increase operational effectiveness. Capita’s solution will not only support us in delivering services but will future-proof us for ESN, as well as other technical and operational changes on the horizon.”
The contract between North Wales and Capita lasts for five years and is worth £788,000.
