Command and control specialist to stage virtual ESN workshops

APD has announced a series of online events, aimed at guiding control room leaders through the transition from Airwave to the Emergency Services Network.

According to the company, participants will be able to “learn from and ask questions of” a variety of experts involved in the transition, including APD MD Mike Isherwood, as well as its strategic policing advisor Gordon Meldrum QPM. The workshops are aimed at command and control senior officers, as well communications and HR colleagues.

Speaking of the workshops, a spokesperson said: “Content will be tailored to include how those managing the transition can help their control room teams to adapt, as well as how they roll out new devices. APD [will be] providing step-by-step support, advice and reassurance.”

Mike Isherwood said: “We know emergency services and organisations in the critical control field are excited by the change [to ESN], but that they also appreciate the scale and risks associated with the challenge.

“Workshop content will be shaped by the participants as they evolve. We’re here to help those who take part to feel confident in every aspect of the transition. We’re on a journey together.”

The first event will take place on July 9 with more to follow in the coming months. Each session will run for an hour, followed by 30 minutes of questions.
