The weather can either be the cause of an emergency or have a major influence on its impact, whether that is a chemical release, nuclear incident, large fire or biological hazard. To support emergency responders the Met Office provides a range of services to help agencies prepare for and respond to emergencies. These services include issuing severe weather warnings (either independently or alongside partners), providing expert meteorological advice and delivering interpretation to help assess the likely impacts of the weather during an incident.
