Radiocoms awarded major digital radio contract with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service
Swansea – December 2025 – North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has selected Motorola Solutions Platinum Partner Radiocoms Systems Ltd (Radiocoms) to deploy a comprehensive digital radio communications upgrade.

The upgrade addresses the service’s need to replace end-of-life radio equipment that was experiencing reliability issues, potentially compromising firefighter safety and emergency coordination. The new system includes fixed mobiles for their incident command unit, Motorola R7 digital mobile radios with colour display and full keypad, along with a range of accessories such as personalised Peter Jones leather carry cases so teams can easily identify their user group, RM760 large remote speaker microphones for officer use, and Nexus NS750 remote speaker microphones specifically designed to work with Drager breathing apparatus, all backed by a five-year enhanced warranty support package.

“North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is committed to providing the highest level of emergency response to our communities across our diverse terrain,” said Mark Williams, Technical Support Watch Manager, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service. “This upgrade ensures our crews have access to the most advanced digital communications technology available to maintain operational excellence and firefighter safety.”

The feature-rich Motorola R7 radios deliver exceptional performance in fireground scenarios, supporting intense, fast-paced communications with instant push-to-talk, advanced noise suppression, enhanced battery performance with IMPRES™ technology, and future expansion capabilities for additional software applications and services. The deployment includes comprehensive technical support services by Radiocoms certified Motorola Solutions engineers.

“Securing this contract represents another significant milestone in our long-standing relationship with UK Fire and Rescue Services,” said Simon Bingham, Fire and Rescue Services Technical Account Manager at Radiocoms. “For over 20 years, we’ve been providing robust and secure radio solutions to the emergency services sector. This new MOTOTRBO communication system will support North Wales Fire’s complex operational requirements across their challenging geographical area.”
