TapSOS is a smartphone app to allow people to communicate with the UK Emergency Services (999) in a non-verbal manner.
The core reason for TapSOS’s existence is for greater accessibility and to promote inclusion.
11 million people in the UK are registered Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Confusion, panic and stress can break down communication causing life threatening delays, in particular for vulnerable groups.
It is vital everyone can access help when needed and feel safe and protected.
Approved by BT in December 2018, TapSOS will be available to the public from March 2019.
